Over 80% of our practice consists of patients who are being treated for low back pain and/or sciatica. We pride ourselves on being experts in treating low back pain with acupuncture and helping our patients in their time of need. Our goal is to guide them to a place where they begin to experience decreased pain, and ideally a pain-free life.
Both the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledge acupuncture and the benefits it can offer to patients experiencing low back pain. Acupuncture for low back pain is a safe, opiate-free treatment that will bring you noticeable results.
Low Back Pain
The leading cause of activity limitation in daily routines and leaves from work is low back pain. Between 60% and 70% of adults experience low back pain at least once in their lifetime. That does not include adolescence and children experiencing low back pain.
Low back pain can range from dull intermittent aching, to sharp, shooting, or stabbing pain that travels. It can occur suddenly, like from a specific event, or last for weeks to years.
At this point in time most low back pain is treated with analgesics, or pain medicine, without much attention paid towards actually addressing the cause of pain. Acupuncture addresses the roots of low back pain rather than simply subduing the pain.
